If you are trying to take care of Candida without antibiotics, I feel that Shatavari is your best shot.
At the clinical study here, the herb Shatavari (aka Asparagus ramosus) shows a high degree of activity against all strains of Candida in vaginal thrush patients and produces results comparable with those of the main antibiotics used to treat this condition (Fluconazole). This research study included Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, Candida guillermondii, Candida parapsilosis and Candida stellatoida!
Here is the abstract from the clinical study, “The in vitro anticandidal activity of Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari) roots and tubers extract was investigated against Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, Candida guillermondii, Candida parapsilosis and Candida stellatoida, which are isolated from vaginal thrush patients. The extract of Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari) showed high degree of activity against all the Candida strains. The inhibitory effect of the extract against all the Candida tested was found comparable with that of standard antibiotics used.”
This is great news, because it’s best to avoid antifungal drugs to treat Candida overgrowth, because research shows that there are now drug-resistant strains of Candida that are not impacted by these treatments. The more we rely on antifungal drugs, the more we contribute to the spread of drug-resistant strains. What’s even worse is that after a long course (or multiple courses over a short period), antibiotics can leave your body a literal breeding ground for Candida.
Shatavari is simply an all-natural herb, which doesn’t have side effects and doesn’t build up a resistance like antibiotics. Furthermore, it shows results comparable to the main antiobiotic used for Candida (Fluconazole).
You may want to take our Angstrom Ionic Zinc with it. Candida grows with zinc within your body and steals it. They do this in order to weaken your immune system, so they can survive better. Therefore, there is this underlying immune battle between your immune system and microbes, trying to snatch up and steal all of the zinc. Therefore, you just want to be taking more zinc while you are fighting an overgrowth of Candida.
At the clinical Study here, it says that Zinc status has been shown to influence immunologic mechanisms that are important in preventing infections caused by Candida albicans. The results indicated that there was a significantly lower level of plasma zinc in women with recurrent vaginal candidiasis. They concluded that mild zinc deficiency is associated with recurrent vaginal candidiasis and may play a role in the susceptibility of women to recurrent vaginal candidiasis.
At the clinical Study here, it states that the resistance to anti-fungal drugs has become the main cause for increasing incidence rate of Candida infections in pediatric intensive care units. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of zinc supplementation on prevalence of candidemia and candiduria infections in PICU. The incidences of candiduria and candidemia were significantly lower in the zinc group than the placebo group. In conclusion, zinc supplementation shows beneficial clinical efficacy in reducing Candida infections among PICU patients on broad-spectrum antibiotics with critical illnesses.
Our Shatavari Extract, along with our Ionic Angstrom Zinc by the Eidon company would be a very good combination in order to combat Candida. There are a couple of other minerals like manganese that Candida also grows with and feeds off of. What’s cool is that these particular trace minerals are found in Shatavari. Shatavari contains manganese, copper, cobalt along with calcium, magnesium, potassium zinc and selenium. As usual, it’s also great to take our Quintessential Ocean Mineral product in order to make sure that you are getting all of the minerals that you need. However, Zinc is the main one for helping with Candida due to its implications on the immune system.
In addition to that, you may want to tweak your diet a little bit to contain less refined sugar and processed starches, since Candida has a tendency to feed off of these types of sugars.
Shatavari is such a potent medicinal herb, that it has been shown to do the job as well as other antibiotics and pharmaceutical medications for so many other conditions.
If you have or know of a person with a persistent cough, Shatavari has been shown to actually be more effective than the prescribed cough medicine codeine phosphate. At the clinical Study here, they share how Shatavari root juice is a natural cough remedy in West Bengal, India. Therefore, researchers evaluated its cough-relieving abilities in coughing mice. They found shatavari root extract stopped cough better than the prescription cough medicine codeine phosphate. The cough inhibition of Shatavari was 40% and 58.5%, whereas codeine phosphate the inhibition was observed at only 36% and 55.4%, respectively.
At the clinical Study here, researches found that the antibacterial activity of Shatavari were comparable with the antibiotic chloramphenicol, which has a tremendous amount of side effects. In this evaluation of antibacterial activity of Shatavari, methanolic extract of Shatavari at 50, 100 and 150 mg/mL concentrations showed significant in vitro antibacterial efficacy against Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Shegella sonnei, Shigella flexneri, Vibriocholerae, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella typhimurium, Pseudomonas pectida, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus.
At the clinical study here, it also shares more of both Anti-Candida and Anti-Microbial activity. This study justifies the use of Shatavari in the treatment of boils, scabies, and as an antiseptic. Furthermore, Shatavari exhibited significant anti-microbial activity against pathogens, which causes dysentery, diarrhea, and gastroenteritis.
At the clinical study here, Shatavari shows more anti-fungal and anti-bacterial activity. The clinical study here reported that Shatavari has significant activity against fungal pathogens. At the clinical study here, they evaluated anti-fungal activities of Shatavari against Malassezia furfur and M. globosa, which is frequently associated with dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis. They suggested it for the potential use in an anti-dandruff formula.
Shatavari is such a potent natural herbal medicine that can potentially replace so many different pharmaceutical drugs for so many different conditions and diseases. One of the reasons Shatavari has all of these pharmacological benefits is due to the presence of its potent saponins, sapogenins, glycosides, flavonoids (kaempferol, quercetin, and rutin) and polyphenols that it contains.
For example, several glycosides have therapeutic uses known to possess pharmacological activities with remarkable therapeutic potential. The pharmacological activities include analgesic, antiinflammatory, cardiotonic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and anticancer effects. Furthermore, Saponins decrease blood lipids, lower cancer risks, and lower blood glucose response. A high saponin diet can be used in the inhibition of dental caries and platelet aggregation, in the treatment of hypercalciuria in humans, and as an antidote against acute lead poisoning.
